A How to Photo page for my Custom Portraits
It is daunting buying bespoke and very easy to get weighed down with how to's regarding which photos to use and what is possible.
So here is a page which may help regarding all your photo questions. If you have any other questions do drop me a message or email.
Initial Contact
The first contact is normally a means of just touching base. At this point I don't expect you to have photos ready or be at a point ready to order.
Normally people are either completely organised and have a complete idea of what they are wanting or the reverse and need a little guidance to help with their creative vision.
If you have a set idea in mind that is fabulous. Please do drop me a message and let me explore your vision with you.
If you have absolutely no idea how to start but would like to discuss options do email and we can brainstorm together to see if we can form the vision together.
Photo Quality
In an ideal world photos will be crisp, in focus, non blurry and a reasonable resolution.
Phone photos are absolutely fine.
The detailing in the photo will transfer to the painting when I sketch out. So if the photo is slightly blurred then the painting will have less detail.
I can work with most photos. I completely understand if you have a shot that you are emotionally attached to or the subject has passed away.
The less detailed photos do come out with a slightly soft focus or vintage quality to them. They are more an impression of the photo to allow that time capsule to live on.
So if you are worried about the photo you have your heart set on do send it through and we can go over some options to see if we can make it work.
Choosing the Right Photo
I am asked a lot regarding 'what poses work best...'

Normally the photo you first think of or when you scroll past an image and think gosh that is 'so them' is the photo that would work best.
Animals like humans are individuals so they have quirks and mannerisms that become part of their likeness.
If you are struggling to find the right photo do send a few through and we can go over the options together and see which would be the best option.
Technically I only need the 1 photo, however if you can send 3 or 4 it does help for likeness.

I can combine photos! It is hard enough to get a lovely photo of 1 pet let alone trying to organise them all. So if you are wanting a multiple piece i can easily combine them from separate photos.

If you are thinking of using a professional photographers photo please do purchase it first and touch base with them and ask permission to use it.
I cannot use a photo with a trademark over it.

Editing
I can do a number of simple edits or more complex depending on what you are wanting. So if you think you have found the perfect photo but dislike an aspect do let me know.
From removing a headcollar or changing saddlepad colour to more drastic and adding show gear/plaits or completely changing the background and adding a floral or natural backdrop.
Anything is possible so dream big!
